High Force Waterfall is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in England, and I went there one year ago, in Autumn, almost Winter. Probably isn’t the best time of the year to go there because some paths and facilities are closed at that time of the year (low season).  But to be honest I didn’t mind that some of them such as the Gift Shop was closed because the aim of that getaway was to enjoy a day in the countryside with some friends; on the other hand some paths were closed and we couldn’t go through them (we tried though, but it wasn’t save!)

Where is it?

Located at Forest-in-Teesdale, in the heart of the Durham Dales, Co. Durham. North of United Kingdom.

What did we see?

From the parking we walked to High Force, an impressive waterfall at the end of a 10 min walk. We undid the way, and walked along the riverside to Low Force, a smaller waterfall. Was cold but sunny, and we saw many people canoeing on the river. They must were freezing!

In our way back to the car we enjoyed an amazing sunset where the contrast between the dark clouds and the sunshine on the hill made the picture (on the top) almost irreal.

The area is really nice, do not miss the oportunity to go there if you have a chance.

• Cataratas High Force •

High Force Waterfall es una de las cataratas más espetaculares de Inglaterra y estuve allí hace justo hace un año, en otoño, casi invierno ya. Al ser temporada baja, quizá no sea la mejor época del año para ir porque algunas instalaciones están cerradas. Pero la verdad que no me importó en absoluto que por ejemplo la tienda de regalos no estuviera abierta, la intención de nuestra excursión era pasar un día en el campo y con amigos: lo único malo es que algunos caminos estaban cerrados y no pudimos ver algunas partes (intentamos pasar, pero no era muy seguro)

¿Dónde está?

Está situado en el bosque de Teesdale, en el corazón del valle de Durham, en el norte de Reino Unido.

¿Qué vimos allí?

Desde el parking fuimos andando hasta High Force, una impresionante catarata al final de un paseo de unos 10 minutos. Después deshicimos el camino y seguimos por la orilla del río hacia Low Force, la catarata más pequeña. Hacía bastante frío pero había sol, y vimos a un grupo de personas haciendo piragüismo según íbamos andando. ¡Ellos sí que debían de estar pasando frío en el agua!

En el camino de vuelta al parking disfrutamos de un increíble atardecer donde contrastaban los colores oscuros de las nubes del cielo con los últimos rayos de sol sobre la colina, haciendo que la foto (arriba) parezca casi irreal.

La zona es realmente bonita, no dudes en visitarla si tienes oportunidad.
