So, what can I say about the desert? I simply loved it!
The desert was the aim of our trip. That meant we had to travel a long way by car until we arrived at Erfoud, but as I said in the previous post, it was totally worth it.
After we visited Tetuan, Chefchaouen and Fes, we went to the desert. We slept between Erfoud and Merzouga for the first night, and the good thing is that as we arrived when it was totally dark, the views in the morning amazed us. It was totally unexpected! In front of the kasbah was a lake surrounded by dunes and more kasbahs. As you can see in the pictures it was amazing.
In the early evening we took a camel ride heading into the middle of the desert, where we spent the second night sleeping in a bereber tent. Once we arrived to the camp I can only say the tranquility was overwhelming. You have no other choice but to enjoy it! So, what did we do? We climbed to the top of dune to see the sunset. Seeing the sunset in the desert definitely made our day. I have no words to explain how beautiful and magical it was. You are in a silent place, on the top of a dune, surrounded by more dunes, gazing at the lasts rays of sunlight and talking with a bereber guy about life. Simply astonishing.
Funny facts:
– If you want to know if the desert at night is as cold as people say, yes, it is!
– The camel ride was… odd! I know this is the proper way of transport in the desert but I guess I would need to get used to it, especially when you want to take pictures at the same time! I think next time I’ll choose 4×4 ride to try new experiences.
– As we expected, we got stuck with our car in the desert. It was just for a bit, just to tell everyone that we had to push back the car in the desert.
– Some bereber guys can be so sexy.

• El desierto del Sahara •
Y, ¿qué puedo decir del desierto? Simplemente, ¡me encantó!
El desierto era el objetivo principal de nuestro viaje. Eso significó hacer un viaje muy largo en coche hasta llegar a Erfoud, pero como ya he dicho en otras entradas del blog, mereció la pena.
Después de visitar Tetuán, Chefchaouen y Fez, fuimos al desierto: la primera noche dormimos entre Erfoud y Merzouga y lo mejor es que llegamos cuando era completamente de noche, por lo que al día siguiente nos llevamos una increíble sorpresa al levantarnos. ¡Las vistas nos cogieron totalmente por sorpresa! Justo delante de la kasbah donde estábamos alojados había un lago rodeado de dunas y más kasbahs. Como se puede ver en las fotos, las vistas eran extraordinarias.
Por la tarde hicimos un paseo en camello que nos llevó al medio del desierto, donde pasamos la segunda noche durmiendo en una jaima. Cuando llegamos a la zona de acampada sólo puedo decir que había una tranquilidad sobrecogedora, así que no tienes más opción que disfrutar de ella. Y, ¿qué hicimos nosotros? Fuimos a lo alto de una duna para ver el atardecer. Ver el atardecer en el desierto fue sin duda uno de los mejores momentos de todo el viaje. No tengo palabras para explicar la sensación tan mágica que vivimos: de pronto te ves en lo alto de una duna, rodeado por muchas más dunas, en un lugar súper silencioso, viendo los últimos rayos de sol del día y hablando sobre la vida con un chico bereber. Hay momentos que son únicos.
Anécdotas del desierto:
– Sí, el desierto por la noche es tan frío como dicen.
– El paseo en camello fue… curioso. Sé que es el medio de transporte habitual para el desierto pero supongo que tendría que acostumbrarme a ello, ¡sobre todo cuando quieres hacer fotos al mismo tiempo! Creo que la próxima vez optaré por hacer un tour en 4×4 si quiero nuevas experiencias.
– Tal y como temíamos, nos quedamos atascados con el coche en la arena del desierto. Pero sólo un poco, lo justo para poder contar la anécdota de que tuvimos que empujar el coche.
– Algunos bereberes pueden ser muy sexys.
