El Hierro, la isla sostenible.

El Hierro es Reserva Mundial de la Biosfera y es una isla 100% renovable. Sus vientos alisios dotan a la isla de la energía necesaria para autoabastecerse. Un ejemplo para el mundo entero.

Y es que se nota el cuidado y el cariño que tienen por la isla. Convivir con la naturaleza, respetarla, amarla, darle prioridad ante las necesidades del ser humano. Eso es lo que hacen en este lugar que un día fue considerado el fin del mundo.

Puede que recorras kilómetros sin ver una casa o una sola persona. Que no sepas si sigues en El Hierro o te has transportado a Islandia. Si es el Atlántico o un mar del Pacífico con toda su vida marina. Si estás en 2024 o te has quedado en algún momento en el pasado.
El Hierro es una mezcla salvaje entre el presente, sus orígenes y las adaptaciones que de forma natural se han ido dando a lo largo de los años. Acantilados de lava, bosques de pino canario, aguas cristalinas. Un compendio de maravillas de la naturaleza que hay que vivir y sentir.

Lugares que hay que visitar:

Las Playas, el monumento natural que hay en el mar y el Parador. (Ojo! Para ir a cualquier otro punto de la isla tendrás que hacer el camino de vuelta por la misma carretera)
Ermita Nuestra señora de los reyes, El Sabinar, Mirador de Bascos y Faro de Punta de Orchilla: todos están en la misma zona de la isla e independientemente del punto de El Hierro en el que te encuentres, tendrás que atravesar dos carreteras por acantilados y paisajes que dan auténtico vértigo, pero también son un regalo para los ojos. En El Sabinar se encuentran árboles que llevan 300 años luchando contra el viento y el Faro de Punta Orchilla fue considerado el fin del mundo en la cartografía antigüa y el Meridiano 0 desde 1634 hasta que Inglaterra lo definió en Greenwich en el siglo XIX.
La Restinga: uno de los mejores lugares para bucear en el mundo. Incluso haciendo snorkel en la playa de Tacorón verás peces flauta y otras criaturas marinas. Para comer, una recomendación es el restaurante Casa Juan.
Mirador de la Peña: las vistas desde ambos lugares son impresionantes.
Pozo de las calcosas: acostumbrados a la palabra «fajana», es una zona de baño creada por la llegada de la lava al mar.
El charco azul: rincones que la lava ha creado para darse un baño en lugares únicos.
La Frontera: ¿habéis visto la serie de El Hierro? Os sonará una pequeña iglesia en lo alto de una montaña.

El Hierro, the sustainable island

Places that you have to visit:
